America was graced by the invention of the hot dog in 1900 by Harry M. Stevens, an Ohio native. Originally, Stevens called his new snack "red hot dachshund sausages,” because of their resemblance to the canines. Stevens went on to become known as the father of sports concessions, and his company prospered into what is known today as Aramark Corporation.
